Currently, Farragut Housing is located at the intersection of newly developed commercial and residential developments, yet this public housing neighborhood is isolated with little connection to these areas. This observation coupled with Farragut’s susceptibility to flooding present unique opportunities for architectural intervention that probes the concept of “ground” and approaches the site through a lens of subtle connectivity.

Using a typology of both formal and informal structures inspired by Japanese wood joinery and mechanical schematics, the Farragut housing neighborhood evolves from a series of isolated nodes to a unified site that utilizes multifunctional and improvisational spaces for residents.
Exploratory Aggregation Studies
An aggregatory approach was utilized using a base unit typology derived from typical New York City apartment dimensions. Thus creating more nuanced and spatially complex indoor / outdoor and overall housing conditions.
